Wild Boars Roam Hong Kong Mall

Dear Global Business Enthusiast,

Michael Michelini (@michelini) here. You’re getting this email because you requested my periodic thoughts on international business from Hong Kong.

[Edit: Actually, it’s possible that you’ve never gotten an email from me. Somebody might have just given you the link to this page, which is an online archive of an email that I sent to folks who had asked for it. If you’d like to get articles like this in your inbox, totally free, about once a week or two, give me your email address.]
The weather is amazing here in Shanghai, China – here for about a week meeting Chinese education centers for some business development action – city is so busy gets my juices flowing!

In Hong Kong over the weekend a wild boar ran through a shopping mall, getting caught in a ceiling – pretty funny video of the boar here.

I’ve been following along as China claims more and more islands and area in the South China Sea – and this article discusses how China plans to project power from these fake islands. Pretty wild, and makes sense as China will need more and more energy and resources as it grows globally.

This is a fun interview (text format) of a CNN Hong Kong employee who leaves the company to be a full time community manager at Instagram. He gives some tips and strategies about Instagram too, I just learned about #puddlegram

This week’s podcast we have Sam Marks’s story, hustling to build an e-cigarette brand in the UK, and how he sourced the product in China, made retail distribution, grew his team and exited for 60 million British sterling. Listen to the show now

FYI this Sam Marks interview show was originally on my Forbes China column (In Chinese) here if you’re curious

Hong Kong Business Supercharged book news – working on a VIP package for people who want to work closely with me on setting up their Hong Kong business, if interesting to you reply back, would love to hear your needs.

Til next time,

Photo of the week: In Shanghai, immediately after landing did an interview with Ally Mona from LimitlessLaowai (will be released soon)  – and we managed to snap a quick selfie together on the streets with my selfie stick (yes, I own a selfie stick, aha)

Have news you want me to include? Please reply and send them over, I’ll review and decide to include in next week’s issue and give you a shoutout.
